After this amazing victory, Moses and Miriam lead all of Israel to sing this song of praise to God, accompanied by joyful dancing (1; 19-21). The theme is a song to Our Triumphant King.

In the first section (2-6), Moses reveals awareness of how God’s triumphant victory relates to our own salvation: we trust not in our strength or hand, but in the One who has become our Salvation, who is majestic in power. Likewise, Jesus’ victory millennia ago is intensely personal to all who receive him.

In the second section (7-11) Moses has moved from personal meditation to basking in God’s victory for God’s own sake: Egypt misunderstood its enemy as Israel, but God revealed his glory.

Lastly, (12-17), Moses considers God’s intentions and plans for his people moving forward. He draws confidence and comfort from God’s unfailing love. God’s love moves him to lead and guide his people to their inheritance: not just the land of Canaan, but particularly the dwelling and sanctuary of God. Let us trust in God’s unfailing love and continue to commit to obey his leading and guidance, no matter what obstacles or difficulties lie before us.
Application: Father, thank you for your grace to me through Jesus’ victory and leading me by your unfailing love. Let me trust and follow you today.
