“I WILL BE YOUR GOD”

Date : Jan 11, 2026
Passage : Exodus 5:22~6:30
Keyverse : 6:7

Why are there so many roadblocks and hardships in our pilgrimage to the kingdom of God as it was the case for the Israelites going to the Promised Land? The book of Exodus gives us a glimpse of the answer.

God reminded Moses, Aaron, and the Israelites of his covenant with their fathers—Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob—that He would bring them to a land flowing with milk and honey (3:16-17). But God also repeatedly told them that they would possess the land, not for their ease and comfort, but to worship Him there (3:12; 4:23; 5:3). Their physical destiny was Canaan, but their journey was about learning that God was their God, and they were His people (6:8). They would worship Him, not because they had ease, comforts, and prosperity in the Promised Land, but because they had come to know who God was and why he was worthy of their worship.

Most of us living in North America enjoy material prosperity just being born there. It appears we are already in the land flowing with milk and honey. But if we do not worship God, and if material prosperity is the only thing we have regard for, then even this blessed land will reek with the stench of spoiled milk and the sickening sweetness of honey.
Application: Lord, may we have spiritual values. Amen.
One Word: Worship God in this blessed land
