A PEOPLE AT THE THREAT OF EXTINCTION

Date : Jan 03, 2026
Passage : Exodus 1:1~22
Keyverse : 22

The book of Exodus records how God delivered the nation Israel for His world redemptive purpose. In Genesis, God had promised Abraham that He would make him into a great nation and that all peoples on earth would be blessed through him (Genesis 12:1-3). We see that God keeps His promise and establishes a great nation, at least in terms of its population size (v.7).

The Israelites were still an ethnic minority in the country of Egypt. They suffered greatly as descendants of immigrants, even though their ancestor Joseph was a deliverer who saved Egypt from seven years of famine and certain demise (Genesis 41).

The Egyptian governmental policy against the Israelites was a diabolic assault against God’s purpose of making Israel into a great nation. The Egyptians were to throw every Hebrew baby boy into the Nile but let every girl live (v. 22).
Application: Father, thank you for your world salvation purpose through the nation of Israel. The power of evil is great. But I praise you that no evil can defeat your goodness, love, and almighty power. Amen.
One Word: Be still at the face of evil because God is for His children
