When Zechariah could speak, he was filled with the Holy Spirit and prophesied. He praised the Lord because He has come and redeemed His people. He did this by sending His Son and raising up a horn of salvation for us. Horn symbolizes “strong king.” While we were defenseless against the power of Satan, our enemies and our sin, God sent His Son, Jesus Christ to be our salvation. Because of Him, we are now restored to serve the Lord without fear in both holiness and in righteousness! What great things God has done! May we use our lives to serve our Savior King to bring many others to this amazing salvation.
Zechariah then prophesied that his son John would be a prophet and go before the Lord to prepare the way for him. John the Baptist was the fulfillment of Isaiah 40:3-5. God used John’s life to prepare people’s hearts for the coming Messiah.
Application: Father, thank you for raising up a horn of salvation for us through sending our Son, Jesus Christ. We give praise to you, and may we live to serve you all the days of our lives without fear.
One Word: God has raised up a horn of salvation to redeem His people
