HEZEKIAH REINTATED PASSOVER

Date : Dec 18, 2025
Passage : 2Chronicles 30:1~27
Keyverse : 27

After restoring the temple and its worship, Hezekiah wanted to celebrate the Passover as God had commanded his forefathers (Ex 12:26,27). Judah had been neglecting to follow the command for so long, which meant that people had forgotten about the grace of salvation.

The preparation was not ready by the first month. Instead of waiting till the following year, the assembly decided to celebrate it in the second month (2.3) as permitted by the law. Hezekiah sent out invitations to the towns of Judah and Israel. It was when the northern kingdom of Israel had fallen into the hands of the Assyrians, and there were only remnants of the exile left in the towns of Israel. Many mocked the invitation, but some accepted and came to Jerusalem to celebrate (13).

Those who gathered in Jerusalem rejoiced in great worship, praising the LORD, and the days of celebration were extended for another week (23). The priests and Levites led the praise and worship as Hezekiah encouraged them. And God heard them, as their prayer reached heaven (27). When God’s people humbly seek him, he hears from heaven and brings restoration and joy.
Application: Father, thank you for your grace of healing and restoration. Please help me rejoice in remembering your salvation and face each day with hope in you.
One Word: Celebrate God’s salvation
