David gave his son Solomon a detailed plan of the temple, which he himself received through the Spirit of God. This included in-depth instructions on the divisions of priests and Levites. He also gave instructions for all the articles used in service for the Temple.

David’s charge to Solomon was “Be strong and courageous, and do the work. Do not be afraid or discouraged for the Lord is with you.” Building a temple of God was a challenging task for his son. But David was confident in God’s love and help. God was telling Solomon through David to be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or discouraged. God will not fail or forsake Solomon until all the work for the service of the temple of the Lord is finished. Solomon had to trust in God and not be afraid. And indeed, God enabled Solomon to finish the temple building.

In our life of mission, challenges may arise and there may be big tasks to accomplish. To us, God says, “Be strong and courageous, do not be afraid or discouraged for the Lord is with you.” Surely our God is with us.
Application: Lord, help us to be strong and courageous, do not be afraid or discouraged. Help us to trust in your love and guidance and continue serving you and finish your work.
