Gatekeepers were chosen by lots as well. Strangely, we can see that God blessed the gatekeeper clans with many sons. Some had 7, and others had 8 sons. We can see the amazing and detailed provision of God. He gives according to the needs of the missions.

There were always guards on duty guarding the important gates of the temple. There were 6 on the east gate, 4 on the north gate, 4 on the south, and 2 on the storehouse. Meshelemiah and the Obed-Edom's family were very notably used as gatekeepers. They glorified the name of God through their serving. When we serve God sincerely, our names will be remembered by God!

Why does the temple need guards? To keep away the unnecessary intruders, the unnecessary merchants. How can we guard the temple of our hearts? When we pray, the peace of God will guard our hearts and minds in Christ Jesus (Phil 4:7).

Other Levites served as treasurers. Moses’ descendant Shubael was one of those in charge of the treasuries. Not only he, but Rehabiah, who was a descendant of Moses through Eliezer, and many of Moses’ descendants served God as treasurers.
