THANK AND PRAISE THE LORD

Date : Sep 16, 2025
Passage : 1Chronicles 23:1~32
Keyverse : 30

When David was old, he set the Levites and priests in order. As an old king about to die, he could have had other concerns, such as border security or a good burial place for himself. However, his heart was towards God. He counted the number of Levites, the tribe that serves God. Some of them were to oversee the work of the temple, and others would be judges, gatekeepers, and praise servants. David also separated the Levites into divisions by sons: Gershon, Kohath, and Merari. Thus, David made sure only those who belonged to the line of Levi served the temple as God commanded them.

Aaron and his line were set apart to serve God as priests. They were the only ones who could offer sacrifices and minister before God. But it was not because they were holier than others; this role was God’s one-sided love and grace. In the same way, God has made us priests to serve him. May we serve God with thanksgiving for this privilege. Since God will dwell in Jerusalem forever, they no longer needed Levites to carry around the ark. Instead, they were to help Aaron’s descendants (priests) in serving God. As verse 30 says, their job was to stand every morning and give thanks and praise to the Lord. That is what angels and elders do in heaven (Rev 4:8). God is most pleased when we give thanks to him and praise him day and night.
Application: Lord, we praise your name and give thanks to you for all you have done.
One Word: Praise the name of the Lord
