GOD RESTORES BROKEN SINNERS

Date : Apr 15, 2025
Passage : Amos 9:1~15
Keyverse : 11

People believed they could escape God’s judgment. But God’s judgment would reach them no matter how hard they tried. God’s hand reaches to the lowest depth and to the highest height. The Lord is the sovereign creator of the whole universe. The nation of Israel thought because they were God’s chosen people, who had been brought up out of Egypt as on eagles’ wings, that God’s judgment wouldn’t reach them. But God’s judgment would find them. It would be sure, and it would be devastating.

But God then held out hope for his people, Israel. Yes, he would judge them, but he would then restore them. He would send Israel into exile. But then he would bring them back, and they would rebuild their fallen cities. They would flourish abundantly and would see peace and prosperity. God’s plan was to bring back his people to the land he promised, never again to be uprooted. God made his covenant with his people. Despite their betrayal of God, he gives hope for restoration after a time of judgment. God is always faithful to all of his promises to his people.
Application: Father, your judgment is sure, but so is your covenant faithfulness. Let me not doubt you.
One Word: God judges, but also restores
