The heavenly man explained that the Persian Empire will have 4 more kings and will fight against Greece. Then, a mighty king will come next who will do as he pleases. After him, his kingdom will be parceled out toward the four winds. A kingdom will form in the South towards Egypt and the Beautiful Land, and another kingdom will be in the North by Syria. These two kingdoms will fight back and forth for years, plundering, killing thousands in battle, and bringing devastation to the Beautiful Land, which was caught in between. God’s people would suffer from various kinds of oppression. Some Hebrew men would rebel, but they would fail. The war would continue for a long time, there would be intrigue, enemies within and without, and no lasting peace. Two kings would sit at a table bent on evil and lie to each other, but to no avail because God would appoint a time to end.

This vision teaches us that God is sovereign over wars, conspiracies, and oppression. All these forces of darkness will come to an end at his appointed time. His people must be faithful, be patient, and put their hope in his kingdom. We must trust in his sovereignty (Col 1:16,17).
Application: Father, please help me to be patient. Help me to see you are in control and will end wars in your right time.
