Ezekiel is now brought to the east gate of the temple. He witnesses God’s judgment on the false prophets and, upon his pronouncement of it, the sudden death of one of the prophets.
However, when the word of the Lord comes again to Ezekiel, God promises that he will gather his people again from many countries and replace their hardened hearts with hearts of flesh. The word of the Lord endures forever (1 Peter 1:25), both his promises of restoration and judgment on those whose hearts are hardened against him. May God help us to have a pure and trusting heart so that we can claim his everlasting promises.
Application: Father, thank you for your mercy which I do not deserve. Help me to fear your judgment on those who forsake you. Thank you for your promise to give a new heart to those who return to you.
One Word: Have an undivided heart and a new spirit to worship God
